The Paloma

We got some killer storms last night, like 6 inches deep water in the backyard. When we woke up it was all gone and the sun was out. Almost like nature was prepping a beautiful spring day for us. We decided to celebrate by having brunch on the patio with the bumblebee’s flying around, our 2 dogs chasing said bumblebee’s and the two of us watching and absorbing all the spring goodness. We made a little brunch of some fresh fruit and a skewed take on eggs benedict coupled with some remaining coffee and a few Paloma’s.

What are Paloma’s? Think margarita but lighter, more refreshing and grapefruits. They’re a great alternative to margarita’s and personally think they showcase the tequila way better than a marg. I played with some recipes online but tweaked until it fit my palette. My version really makes the reposado tequila speak its aged, slightly sweet agave goodness a bit more. I used Muchote repo, a really great bargain bottle (under $30) that we’ll do a review on shortly. Check out the recipe today and kick back in the backyard, patio, balcony…whatever and enjoy this beautiful spring weather with a drink you wouldn’t normally make or even hear of.


3oz Reposado Tequila
6oz Grapefruit soda
1/2oz Fresh Lime juice

Mix the ingredients and pour into a collins or highball glass filled with ice. Garnish the rim with salt (if thats your thing, its not mine) or with a slice of lime. Enjoy as it starts to rock your face and tickle your…well you know.
